about

This track was written for the "Songwriting Club". A group of established songwriters that submit a song weekly, written in an hour to the weeks given theme. This weeks theme was Christmas.

Because it's Christmas and because of the subject matter of the song all profits from this recording will be donated to the St Vincent De Paul Society men's charity.

lyrics

[V1]
There’s many things that I have done
So many things that I’m not proud of
Into the a room with no defence
A life of shame and some pretence

My names the same but I’m no saint

[V2]
Into my world a window broken
You can see in but not so well
Deshevelled beard and softly spoken
The smell of drink is in the air

My names the same but I’m no saint

[Chorus]
So many things that I have done
So many things that I’m not proud of
Into this world with no restraint
My names the same but I’m no saint

[V3]
A life of shame a life of sorrow
A whisky bottle my best friend
And the next day i’ll wake to listen
To all the dreams the children shed

Chorus
So many things that I have done
So many things that I’m not proud of
Into this world with no restraint
My names the same but I’m no saint

Into this world with no restraint
My names the same but I’m no saint
